A meeting will be held on tuesday night at 7-8pm for anyone interested in helping out with the skatepark. Skate ambassadors and others interested are welcome. Park designer Richard Bowen will be there to explain our plan and to get your input. Hopefully the brochures will be ready to handout and circulate to start the fundraising.

This Skate park is going to be SICK! I'm very excited to get this going. The Gray Cat Studio and Michelle Bisceglia did a great job on the fundraising brochure. Spread the work! Jdog

New Beginnings
Greetings "Friends of Hope Davey Skateboard Park"--
Welcome to the "Waterbury Skates!" blog. I hope you will follow our community blog that will update our fundraising progress. Perhaps you will share this link with your Facebook friends and generate some excitement as our fundraising campaign gets underway. We hope to begin our community build days in May of 2011. Perhaps you'd like to be a part of this process. Perhaps you have some building expertise and/or some pressure treated building supplies you'd be willing to donate. Perhaps you'd like to meet some of the people behind the scenes who are trying to make this dream a reality. The time has come for Waterbury to have a skateboard park!!
The skateboard park will be located at the multi-use area behind the new fire station in Waterbury Center, VT. The park will be constructed on a paved area approximately 40' long and 50' wide. The basketball court can also be used to ride and enter the park features as well. The park will be geared to beginner and intermediate skaters with plenty of challenging features for everyone to enjoy. Take a look at Richie Bowen's design plans and get excited to join the fun.
If you are interested in making any changes to the design we are eager to talk to you and have your input. Please spread the word. We are currently creating a marketing brochure to kick off our fundraising campaign. Our fundraising goal is $10,000.
Perhaps your company would consider a sponsorship. Andrew Chmura and "Grand Slam Tennis Tours" in Stowe, Vermont has already stepped up to the plate. His logo will be prominently painted on the skate mural wall. We are hoping to get Rome snowboards, Burton snowboards, Ben and Jerry's ice cream and any other local business on board the skateboard buzz. If you work at one of these businesses please get in touch so we can connect with them soon.
